Message From the President
Many thanks to Martin Blunt from Imperial College for his excellent presentation “Peering into the pore space: a revolution in petrophysics”, at the September evening meeting.
We had an outstanding attendance at our “Petrophysics-101; An Introduction to Formation Evalu-ation” seminar in September. A big thank you the eight expert speakers who gave their valuable time to help make this such a great event. Our next seminar is on 11th December and will cover Well Integrity and other aspects of cased-hole logging.
We will be holding our Annual General Meeting on 4th November. At the AGM we vote for the LPS committee for 2014 and beyond. There are two vacancies on the committee, so if you would like to volunteer some of your valuable time to helping to run the LPS, our Past-President, Adam Moss would like to hear from you (firstname.lastname@example.org). Please plan to attend the AGM if you can, it is very important that we get as many members there as possible to conduct the busi-ness of the Society.
I’m please to announce the launch of the Dick Woodhouse Award for Young Professionals for 2014. Details are on the following page. This year’s winner, Peter Fitch, has just been made an SPWLA Distinguished Speaker for his talk on “the Petrophysical Link between Reservoir Quality and Heterogeneity: Application of the Lorenz Coefficient”.
All the best
Mike Millar : LPS President
