Message From the President
I hope that you are all enjoying some time off during the summer.
Many thanks to SPWLA Distinguished Lecturer Nicole Reichel who presented “Neutron Gamma Density (NGD): Principles, field test results and log quality control of a radioactive-free bulk density measurement”, at our July evening meeting.
Our next evening meeting is on 9th September, where Martin Blunt from Imperial College will be presenting “Peering into the pore space: a revolution in Petrophysics”.
On Wednesday 18th September 2013 the London Petrophysical Society will be holding a one-day seminar entitled “Petrophysics-101; An Introduction to Formation Evaluation” at the Geological Society, Burlington House, London. This is the latest in their series of “Basic FE” seminars, designed mainly for less experienced colleagues and students.
Congratulations to the following student members who grant and awards since the last newsletter: Abdul Majeed (Leeds) Grant, Ahmed Al-Salehi (Leicester) Student Prize, Tracey Vaitekaitis (Manchester) Grant, Xutong Li (Imperial) Bursary, Ghada A S Almoulani (Durham) StudentPrize, Sam Matthews, (Leicester) Grant.
Next year the Petroleum Group of the Geological Society are holding a two day conference on Operations Geology and they have issued a call for abstracts. So if you are interested in speaking at this prestigious event please see details at the end of the Newsletter
